Abstract
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation of shoulder pain and meridian muscle electrography in hemiplegic patients after stroke.

Methods: Twenty patients with hemiplegic shoulder pain participated in this study. Physical examination, pain survey and meridian muscle electrography were performed. Each variable was compared with each other by correlation analysis.

Results: Correlation between visual analogue scale and meridian muscle electrography statistically significant in contraction power ratio of deltoid muscle medial portion and trapezius muscle upper portion, others were not significant.

Conclusions: In hemiplegic shoulder pain patients, the more patients complain about pain, the more tone of affected muscle is similar unaffected muscle. This suggests that pain influences on muscle tone. Although meridian muscle electrography is not typical method for the evaluation of painful hemiplegic shoulder, this is referential method to clinical evaluation.
